About LEI

A Legal Entity Identifier ("LEI") is a unique 20 digit alphanumeric code based on ISO 17442 standard and is assigned to a single legal entity. The LEI allows the unambiguous and unique identification of legal entities engaged in financial transactions. Over 150 rule making (ESMA, EMIR, EIOPA, EBA, SEC, EU, MiFID II, MiFIR, MAR, OTC trade repository, ...) around the globe either require, request or recommend the usage of LEIs.
